WHY DO WE GIVE?
For those who give back to God, He blesses “such that there will not be room enough to receive it.”
“Will a man rob God?
Yet you have robbed Me!
But you say,
‘In what way have we robbed You?’
In tithes and offerings.
You are cursed with a curse,
For you have robbed Me,
Even this whole nation.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
“And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts; “And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the Lord of hosts. –Malachi 3:8-12
As Christians, we should strive to follow the first and greatest commandment of them all:
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. –Matthew 22:37-38
If we truly love God above all else, why would our bank statement not show that love?
WHERE DO OUR TITHES & OFFERINGS GO?
Ten percent of all our tithes and offerings go to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program, which supports almost 7500 missionaries, 6 seminaries and its students, world hunger, church planting, church revitalization and more. We also support the Cumberland Baptist Association every month.
The rest of our tithes and offerings support local ministries, local and world missions, evangelism and discipleship in our community, benevolence needs, personnel budget, multiple ministries in our church, and other practical issues such as insurance, lease payments, signage, utilities, etc.
